Meaning of the term

Rashtra Padhaka Sanchalakulu (రాష్ట్ర పథక సంచాలకులు) is the State Project Director (SPD) for Samagra Shiksha (సమగ్ర శిక్ష). Rāṣṭra — state; pathaka — scheme/programme; sanchālakulu — directors. Samagra Shiksha is the integrated school education programme covering the continuum from pre-school to Class XII, under the Ministry of Education.

Role of the State Project Director

The SPD is a senior official—often an IAS officer—accountable for implementing Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan in the state: aligning the sector with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the Right to Education (RTE) Act, 2009; overseeing school education from pre-school through higher secondary; financial and operational planning for infrastructure, teacher development, and quality; initiatives to reduce social and gender gaps; and serving as the nodal authority between the Centre’s Department of School Education and district systems.
